ANNOUNCEMENTS AND UPDATES FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR


We hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season.  We have our monthly Keep On Moving! session and our ongoing sports practices.

Due to low registration we have had to postpone our October 23rd Paralypmic Sports Day.  Our plan is to bring paralympic sports to youth and adults this upcoming spring!

 


Come see us onWe will have an ODS booth set up..... Friday Sept. 10 at Pioneer Courthouse Square at The Standard's Volunteer Expo and Saturday, Sept. 11th at UCP's Walk,  Roll n'Run  event on The East Bank Esplanade. Come see what we are all about!


We want to welcome The Equity Group Foundation to our ODS family!

The Portland Pounders are 2nd in the country!

Portland State University has posted a new job position-new full-time Coordinator of Adaptive Recreation and Community Service.

November 1st, at The Multnomah Athletic Club

A fun evening of awards, speaker and a silent auction.


Oregon Disability Sports is excited to announce that we have entered a team in the world renowned Hood to Coast relay!

I am sorry to announce that we have had to cancel our ski day, February 28th this year.  This was due to unforeseen circumstances.

I hope you all can get to the mountain and get on the snow-check out either Mt Hood Meadows or The OAS program up at Hoodoo!

Did you make a New Year's Resolution to get in shape, become more fit?

Here at ODS, we are looking forward to a winter full of sport including skiing, rugby and basketball!


Our 13th Annual Athletes of Distinction Banquet will honor many athletes this year and it will serve as ODS's primary fundraiser. Tickets to the dinner are $20 each and we will have a silent auction during the course of the evening. We hope you will be able to attend and support disabled sports in Oregon and SW Washington.

September is our membership drive kick off month!

Anyone looking to become a member of community with similar interests, you like our mission, become a member today.

 


Congratulations to Julie Crisp and Nelacey Porter for making  Team USA Track & Field, and to Aaron Paulson for making Team USA Swimming!

Congratulations to Karissa Whitsell of Eugene and Barbara Buchan of Bend for making the US National Cycling team that will be competing in Beijing in September!

Thanks to all who volunteered and to all who participated-the 4th Annual Bike Clinic was a huge success with over 35 people trying out different adapted bikes.

Portland Parks and Recreation, Shriners Hospital and Adventures Without Limits were great! 


November 2nd is the date for our "Athletes of Distinction" banquet at the Multnomah Athletic Club.

We will induct the first class to the OREGON DISABLED SPORTS  HALL OF FAME!


Interested in basketball?  Wheelchair basketball is back!!
